Assalamu Alaikum (Peace be upon you) and welcome to a place of spiritual enrichment, my name is Abdullah Shafiq and following is the reason that why I converted to Shia Muslim.
Because my worship of Allah and high respect for His Messenger (SAWA). I wish to follow the Straight Path, and according to my (layman's) research, I must follow the Prophet (SAWA) and his pure family and progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt (SAA).
Sunni and Shi'a alike acknowledges the event of Ghadir Khumm. An event in which Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) was well aware that he soon would leave this worldly life, this Dunya. So, he stops at Ghadir Khumm for congregational prayer and in order to be able to hold a sermon for the believers gathered (75 000 — 100 000). During this important sermon, towards the end of his life on earth, it would seem logical to take advantage of the opportunity to name his succesor. So, at one time, Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) joined him on the improvised podium. He raised Ali's (AS) arm and said, and I regret I write the transliteration as I remember the words: Man kuntu Mawla fahaza Aliyen Mawla (‘For whomever I am the master, Ali is his master').
Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) would unlikely speak those words were they not from Allah Himself.
The successor de facto, Abu Bakr, was chosen at a meeting (six people present, if my memory serves me right) held as Ali (AS) was by the Prophet's (SAWA) side (as was his custom).
In conclusion: Do I follow what was decided at a meeting held in the dark (politics) or that which Allah has ordained (Divine Law)? That is my view. And of Allah ordains me to, I will become Sunni at once. After three years as a Shi'a Muslim I am yet to be proven wrong.
After I converted to Shia Muslim I got a lot many threats from my family and also outside my family. I was living in Rawalpindi Pakistan where I was the eye witness the Shia Muslims were killed in Muharram while performing their religious activates. They were killed in suicide bombing for no reason. I have a soft corner for them while I was in Pakistan.
When I shifted to Saudi Arabia I researched and as a result I converted to Shia Muslim and now I am feeling much satisficed. I always think that why these innocent people were killed in Pakistan for no reason.
I am thankful to the God that I am now on right path and I feel inner satisfaction now. However, there are many threats to my life but I will not leave Shiaisum and the path of Holy Prophet(PBUH) family.
